Westcroft's Greenleaf Compound
|
|
Westcroft's
Greenleaf Compound is made from a formula invented by Mr. Ernest N.
Stanton, founder of Westcroft Gardens. He was a pioneer grower of
Azaleas and Rhododendrons and other acid soil plants in southeastern
Michigan. Most soils in the Midwest and Great Lakes regions are
neutral or alkaline, which is not suitable for growing this valuable
group of plants. The ground is often heavy clay loam and poorly
aerated. For this reason proper bed preparation is
necessary. Using Westcroft's Greenleaf Compound helps in the
proper soil preparation for azaleas and rhododendrons and its continued
use as a soil conditioner is very important in maintaining the proper
acidity in the plant beds. Over the years many landscapers and yard maintenance companies have used Greenleaf Compound with excellent results.
Westcroft's Greenleaf Compound is specially recommended for:

EASY TO USE BED PREPARATION-- If preparing a bed
for azaleas, rhododendrons, or any other acid soil loving plants,
Greenleaf Compound may be used in the preparation of the bed.
Unlike other acid soil products that are granular, Greenleaf Compound's
base is peat moss and humus making it more cost effective to amend your
soil. Depending on soil quality, thoroughly mix with 2 to 4
pounds of Greenleaf Compound for every square yard of the area of the
bed.
SOIL CONDITIONER-- To maintain healthy plants, Greenleaf
Compound should be applied three times a year; once before the plant
blooms, once after the blooms and once early in the fall. Spread
two pounds per square yard between and around the plants. Water
thoroughly.
