Lavender

In the summer of 2021 we began the process of creating lavender fields. Our plants should be of harvestable size around 2024

Preparing to plant

Clay soils require a lot of amending before becoming suitable for drought-loving lavender

Time to plant

Twelve rows of 33 plants were carefully planted

Time to plant

In addition to the rows of lavender in the field, a patio area has also been created near our Azalea House event space.

We got a lot of rain their first fall and lost about a quarter of the plants, or over 100.

2022 was a very dry year so the plants grew well and had their first prune in the fall.

Although some plants will need to be replaced every year, each year the plants are in the ground the stronger and larger they will become.

We look forward to continuing to learn and promote these beautiful and deer resistant plants for many years to come!
